Acupuncture is a holistic health therapy utilized at Active Life that stems from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in which specific points throughout the body are stimulated by inserting hypodermic acupuncture needles into the superficial layers of the skin. Acupuncture is a complimentary health approach that first originated in ancient China more than 2,500 years ago and has been evolving ever since. In TCM, acupuncture is used to help with the flow of energy throughout the body (known as Qi or "Chi") in order to alleviate chronic pain and help treat various other condition.
At Active Life, Acupuncture is used as a conjunctive therapy in order to treat conditions such as headaches/migraines, Fibromyalgia, chronic aches and pains (including neck, back, knee and arthritis pains), PMS/menopause complications, pregnancy and postpartum health, insomnia and many other conditions. Acupuncture is a relatively pain-free therapy and is offered in 15 and 30 minute sessions at Active Life.
